I am requesting the opportunity to attend virtual professional development in the area of literacy. Many of my special education students have dyslexia and struggle with reading. This training will give me Orton-Gillingham skills and knowledge to help my special education students grow in reading. The Orton- Gillingham method is a research-based method to help students with dyslexia and reading disabilities. Reading fluency is the basis for all future learning. It is crucial that my students become successful readers. The knowledge I attain from this training will help special education students for years to come.
