Students are in a confined dorm setting and share an in-person classroom with computers (though no Internet) so access to print and any in-person materials are collected and passed out every individual class sessions. Our school is currently all virtual now, we may be transitioning to in-person hybrid soon this school year. Access to resources will inspire these students to attend college, understand the tax system, and be prepared for math in the real world. This is crucial and will result in my learners to become strong, productive members of society. Prior to discussing financial math, my students hated the subject. They had trauma with past teachers and never saw themselves in the material; they never felt heard. With the increase and high levels of engagement, I have seen so many of my students use their life experiences in the classroom. They learn to value what money, financial responsibility, and how these systems of capitalism personally affect them, too.
