Reading is a hobby of mine, and I hope to instill this in the children in my class. My hope is to begin and continue building a library with my first Donors Choose projects. As a young teacher, my classroom library is filled with hand-me-downs, torn and ripped books, forgotten classics, and adequate books that 9-year-olds have never heard of. After much research and student interest surveys, I have added books to my wish list that will promote reading using series and feature authors as well as expose students to diverse people and topics. Through this project, I will be developing a more organized and structured library that mimics a typical public library. I will also be using books about cultures, lifestyles, and character traits to use as discussion tools through morning meetings. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to creating a group of avid readers in my classroom.
