We are in the process of determining the best available space and converting that space into a new "Physical Fitness Room" available to all the students of Frederick. In converting this space, we are seeking a class set of pedometers and a new age-appropriate elliptical machine to provide students with new and exciting equipment that will be reliable throughout repeated use. In combination with previous donations, our new space will be an ideal location for providing valuable physical education lessons while easing the burdens of space limitations in the gymnasium. On an average day of in-person learning, there are four classes of 15-20 students in the gymnasium. While a large outdoor space and community fitness equipment help ease this burden in warmer weeks and months, Illinois winters necessitate many months of indoor learning in a crowded space. With 4 PE teachers in the building, at least one would be afforded the opportunity to take a group from the gymnasium, easing the burden on the remaining students and teachers while also still providing purposeful lessons with movement and exercise to the students.
