LEGO Mindstorm will get me students interested in learning more about science and technology by giving the students a chance to explore an area that they have only seen on TV and the movies. In doing so, they will know that they are capable and can become anything that they want to be and to pursue those career dreams. Students will begin in K5 learning the engineering process, learning to write simple code and put the code in the correct sequence by using unplugged programming. In 1st and 2nd grade they will have the opportunity code use block programming. In third and 4th grade, they will be introduced to Lego Mindstorms, more coding concepts, and learn how to create a simple robot. In 5th grade I want them to apply what they have learned and create a robot that solves a problem as a project.
