With current safety protocols, we have had to adjust how we make music in the classroom. Singing and instruments have had to adapt, including one of the most beloved childhood musical memories - the recorder. It's almost impossible to imagine music class without these iconic plastic masterpieces. This project will allow students to continue reading music, developing breath support, and honing their fine motor skills during self-directed learning time from home. Our students have two days per week of learning time from home, which would allow them to safely play their recorders away from other students and staff at school. Creation and performance are vital aspects of music that are not able to happen in the classroom this year, but these recorders will allow students to develop these skills in the safety of their own homes.
