Students in my AP Seminar and AP Research classes spend much of their time researching, reading, and writing on topics that range from asteroid mining to publicly funded sports arenas. Throughout the year, they do about six presentations. This is one of the toughest parts of my class. Students are on stage and responsible for communicating complex ideas with power and accuracy. Filming practice sessions will allow students to see exactly how they can improve. I wish the solution was as simple as telling them to pull out an iPhone and hit record. The reality is that a lot of students don't have access to that kind of technology. This camera will level the playing field and help all my students become more effective speakers.
