Physics explains the fundamental laws of the universe that we abide by everyday, knowing it or not. My students are taking physics in order to better understand those laws theoretically, as well as mathematically. Considering the current state of the world, and the pressures these kids are facing with the uncertainties of school, technology, and even home life, I want to take something off their plate. A calculator might seem small, but mathematics is the language of physics and often the math is too complicated to do in your head. We also are not guaranteed that our laptops and other technology will work, hence why a separate calculator is necessary. This is also true during exams and other assessments, where Google would no be allowed. Every student desires equitable and fair learning, which can only be maintained with efforts like providing basic supplies. I want to provide all my students with a fun, light-hearted experience in a subject that is often associated with antisocial, awkward, and scary characteristics. They need to understand the world we live in by computing the speed of a car, or the acceleration due to gravity, or the force it takes to move a piano because those are real world scenarios they could face. Understanding physics is important to the world we live in, and being able to do math is essential. So please help me help my students!
