Even though I've been teaching for 25 years, I've never had the resources to have my own classroom library--let along one that is focused on introducing stories of human rights defenders who are examples to my students. Now, due to the generosity of Donors Choose, my project targets titles that are written by a diverse group of authors, many of whom have had a major impact on history. My hope is that my students get introduced to people whom they normally wouldn't, then use their example to change the world.
