The materials will help engage students in the area of reading by giving them current events and articles to read about natural disasters to help reinforce the skills taught in the reading strategies class. The headphones will help those who need to listen to stories or tests that are made available via online. The items will be used at-home and in the school for the time being; hopefully, they can see that a simple pair of headphones makes a big difference in their education. When teaching the skills of making an inference and relating it to the natural disaster of Hurricane Katrina, students can read how horrible the events were and infer what it took to bring the city back to life after such a horrible natural disaster.
