I get to work with children from birth to 3 years old. I work on different skills depending on what the parents would like their child to learn. I mainly focus on increasing understanding and use of language. I also help increase a child's cognitive skills (increasing attention to a task, matching skills, and sorting skills). I can use a Mr. Potato head to teach body parts identification, naming of body parts, placement of body parts, and increasing attention to a task. I work with many families where English is not their primary language. I am trying to provide handouts in the families primary home language, Spanish. These handouts will help the parents to follow through with the skills their child needs to practice. I want to provide fun activities/handouts in Spanish and English to help engage the parents in their child's learning.
