Our classroom uses the daily 5 literacy model. I am looking to add 5 Kindle readers to our centers rotation. When hearing the spoken word, students learn rhyme, phonics, sentence structure, and voice inflections. Kindle readers allow students to focus on the sounds of words read without interruption and provides a model of fluent reading. Active listening is a skill that builds reading stamina and patience. Both skills are necessary for fostering a lifelong reader. Listening to reading and access to reading games allows students to build fluency and create a strong foundation.
