The more a student reads, the better he/she does in school. Reading comprehension and vocabulary skills drastically improve when kids start reading. High-interest novels are especially important for teenagers, as many are reluctant to read. Even those who enjoy reading, often lack the access to books that are interesting to them. My classroom library contains high-interest novels that appeal to teenagers. Everything from classics to science fiction to dystopian novels are included. Students are encouraged to check out books and take them home to read on their own. Some of the books are checked out, but never returned. This project will help to replenish books that have been lost.
