I am the school librarian. My school serves approximately 400 students. We are preparing to transition from remote learning to face-to-face. One of my goals, particularly as the librarian, is to get books into the students hands and homes. They have spent so much time learning from a screen. I would like to replace some of that screen time with good old fashion book reading. While the students will be getting books from the library once they return, they will not be allowed to visit the library right now. So, the library will visit classes with a mobile book cart for check-out. With these mats, I envision having library time outside when the weather is nice. The students will each have their own mat to get comfortable and explore the new books they check out. Not only will the students be away from a screen, but they will have an extra opportunity to get some fresh air. When the weather doesn't cooperate, we can still use the mats to define our safe, socially distanced space inside. Between classes, I will spray the mats with Lysol to sanitize them. I can use these mats for years to come to provide flexible seating for students.
