Young children have copious amounts of energy and many have sensory needs that are not being met. To support all my students in a safe and physically comfortable classroom environment, I believe their bodies need to move. Flexible seating would support the needs of all the students in my Pre-K classroom. If our students' sensory needs are not met then expecting productive learning is not equitable. By providing the Flex-Space Wobble Chairs, students will get the sensory input they need and will be able to concentrate more and be active and engaged learners. With flexible seating and fidget supports I will be able to meet the needs of my students giving them a variety of seating choices in conjunction with teaching-learning strategies through programs like Second Step and Zones of Regulation. This support focuses on the Whole Child and I will measure student successes over time in group and individual work at tables and work completed with less supports in other areas of the classroom. This achieves the Equity Goal and The Whole Student Goal within our District Promise providing an atmosphere to learn within their own personal needs for their learning environment.
