The headphones will enable my students to engage in audio and video-based learning activities. This is particularly important during COVID as students are unable to participate in many of the traditional, in-classroom group learning activities that require students to be in close range of each other. I like using video-based, interactive learning platforms (e.g., EdPuzzle). They allow students to engage with what they're seeing in the video. It is also a great tool for my students who are emerging readers. They are able to learn and apply new information from listening to or watching a video where they may have struggled with if it were in text format. My plan for the headphones is to have them stay at school in students' desks so that they're available when we need them to support classroom learning. That said, not all students have headphones that they can use for their at-home learning on distance days. I will allow students to bring the headphones back and forth. In order to help students remember to bring their headphones from home to school, I will help them set up a reminder system either on their school-issued device or in their school planners. I will include having your headphones in class as part of students' weekly Habit of Work grade under Preparation for Learning.
