Research shows that if a child feels that their learning environment is safe, they are able to take necessary risks in their learning, exploration, and relationships. We all have felt unsafe during this pandemic at one point or another, and these kids are no exception to those emotions. They also have fears, and believe it or not, they do care about their health and the health of others. Providing a safe learning environment has always been my top priority, and a strong suit for me on my evaluations (yep- it's that important that its a category in professional evaluations). I believe these air filters, with the help of love, acceptance, open-mindedness, (and sanitizer- ha!), will give my students the reassurance they need that they are able to come back and learn and show the world how resilient they really are!
