The Montessori classroom is centered around student inquiry. The materials on our shelves are meant to draw student attention and entice them to take the materials out to explore and learn. The classroom I have inherited has been curated over many years of teaching and the materials have been well loved but are in need of some updating and refreshing. This project will help me spark my students interest in our Science and Social Studies curriculum and bring new energy to the shelves of old favorites! The Orrery in particular will expand upon student learning about the earth's relationships to the moon and sun from Lower Elementary in an awesome hands on way. The boxes of STEM activities are a hit in another classroom so I know my students will love and be inspired by them as well. All of these materials together will bolster student learning.
