Books allow students to expand their knowledge beyond the classroom and their own environment. Many students do not have books at home or books where they can see children that look like them! Children can share these books with their parents and other adults in their homes. Books create warm emotional bonds between adults and kids when they read books together. Books help kids develop basic language skills and profoundly expand their vocabularies—much more than any other media. Books are interactive; they demand that kids think. Fiction and nonfiction books widen our consciousness. The more children read, the further their minds will go in life!
