In my classroom, I try to give students the option to read newer material that isn't limited to canonical texts. I am hoping to read Little Fires Everywhere with my AP Lit students so they can see common themes in literature about the struggles of your past, family relationships, identity, plus many others. The author, Celeste Ng, is from Ohio, so this also adds a familiarity with some of my students who are from the tri-state area. With students have a physical copy of the book, it allows them to read in the spare time at home.
