I have students who struggle to read English AND Spanish. I gave one such student a survey in Spanish and instead of answering the questions, he attempted to copy over the letters. There is little way to give them instruction because I cannot communicate with them. Normally I use Google translate on all the text, but they can't read Spanish and can only speak Spanish. It's difficult to give them grade-level instruction. I hope to use whiteboard markers and Teacher Pay Teacher resources to support these students with visuals rather than words and slowly help them learn how to read and teach them about science.
