While our students are learning remotely this year, and spending much of their time at home on digital devices, we (teachers and families) think it's critical for them to use the fine motor skills that are required for actual writing.  Our students have not been in a school building since March 2020 and have not had formal handwriting practice since then.  These skills will support them as writers and in all academic areas.  Writing is a lifelong skill that is necessary for our children.   The items we are requesting are handwriting workbooks for print (to be used in the beginning of the school year) and cursive (to be used later in the winter/spring).  We are also requesting a box of pencils for each student and various tools that will help students who struggle with handwriting and the fine motor skills that are required to write legibly and comfortably.
