Advancements in technology have changed both how we teach and how our students learn. We can access information from almost anywhere, making it more important than ever to find ways to reach all of our students. A graphic drawing tablet would allow me to create tutorials for my students. Science class can often involve diagrams, drawings, formulas, equations, and a variety of letters and numbers. I currently have to use my white board to draw things such as molecules, or write out entire equations, and then record myself. Time is sometimes taken up in the video when I have to erase and write out or draw things myself. A graphic drawing tablet would create a seamless presentation, complete with drawings, equations, multi-colored items, tables, and formulas, all with one device. Today's technologically savvy students can utilize an online tutorial any time of the day, wherever they are, to help them understand the material they are learning. Students today are busy with academics, school extracurriculars, jobs, and helping out at home. There are times when they need a little extra help late at night, on the weekends, or days when they are out sick. The tutorials I can make with a graphic drawing tablet would be accessible at any hour of the day, providing my students with assistance and a way to review the material. Any students that miss class would have an easier time getting caught up. I will provide access to the tutorials to special education teachers so they can view them with students and help with homework and notes. Class time moves quickly, and videos or a screencast of the day's concepts would make it easier for my students to review the material whenever they need to. I am excited to get started making tutorials with a digital tablet!
