All my students want to learn music through learning an instrument. They have always been interested and intrigued whenever I use my ukulele to teach them a new song. Since our school only owns two ukuleles, we have not been able to use them as a teaching tool. The ukuleles will provide many positive experiences in the program for my students. First and foremost is to allow all the students to learn the fundamentals of music through learning how to play the ukulele. These instruments provide a hands-on experience for students to grow their musicianship and learn how to play and perform in a group setting. Teaching ukulele also helps students to build their understanding of music theory and helps to connect the notes on the page to something more tangible, meaningful, and valuable. It opens the chance to make music individually and socially. My students will also learn how to compose and improvise on their new instruments. Music composition allows the students to express their emotions creatively and constructively. The culturally rich history of the ukulele will also provide a powerful learning experience in the classroom. The students will also be able to check out a ukulele and take it home to practice. As the students progress their skills, they will be able to use the ukuleles during concert performances. These instruments will enhance the environment, both in the music classroom and on the performance stage.
