Please assist us in getting laptops into the hands of our students so that they can learn effectively this year, whether in the building or online. New York City DOE provided technology will get kids in the door of learning, but will not allow them full access to learning activities that will help them succeed. Several of my students have struggled to complete assignments on an unreliable iPad. Other students have logged into class meetings on their cellphones -- doing whatever they can to remain present and engaged in their classes. Laptops will give students a huge advantage: students will be able to complete assignments using a keyboard and navigate through the variety of educational websites and activities we have planned for them. Whether they are typing an assignment, or having a discussion via video classes, having the technology to match their drive is essential. I have been blown away by my students' zeal, excitement, and commitment to their learning. These laptops will make a world of difference for them.
