We learn about early U.S. history throughout the year. Students thrive when they are actively engaged in their learning. Having an iPad available at all times throughout the day gives the students the opportunity to look for information and answers to questions they have. Kids love nothing greater than being able to do some kind of creative project. They come to life when an electronic device is put into their hands. Rather than demonstrating their knowledge through completing worksheets and taking a written test, students will be able to do research and go on virtual field trips by using the iPad. Students can work in small groups to write, record, and produce a time traveling news broadcast. They will learn technological skills needed to creatively record, edit, and produce a video that demonstrates what they've learned. When actively engaged in their learning and given the opportunity to create, what has been learned will become more deeply engrained in their long term memory. Also, kids who struggle with written work will have opportunities to shine.
