I can't update the operating system of my current tablet because it's too old. That means my students are missing out on the latest version of communication apps (e.g. LAMP WFL or Proloquo2go). With a new tablet, I'll be able to evaluate students for communication devices with the most updated language apps. Funding this project will allow me to provide direct support in the classroom (both in person and remotely). For an assistive technology evaluation to be accepted, I have to show that the student is successful in using the communication system in different environments. With a new tablet, I'll have the space to keep all symbol-based communication apps in one place. My current tablet provided by the school only has 16GB and is a first generation model. I also asked for a protective case and a pencil grip stylus. A strong case will allow me to take therapy everywhere. A pencil grip stylus will help for handwriting tasks on the tablet.
