I feel it is important to acknowledge and recognize students' positive behavior. We implemented a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports program (PBIS) to help our school become more effective. These materials will be used in a Falcon Exchange Store as an incentive for demonstrating positive behavior. Students have the opportunity to earn SOARS tickets when staff see them being safe, on-task, accountable, respectful or supportive. The Exchange Store is open daily for students to submit an order to purchase items with SOARS tickets. Students are excited about saving tickets to purchase certain items. They work hard to earn the tickets. Last year 90% of our students had zero or one office referral. This is due to a successful PBIS program. Last year every student was able to earn a reward from the Falcon Exchange. This was very motivating and engaged our students in a positive way. PBIS and the Falcon Exchange is a school-wide initiative that we plan to continue throughout the school year and years to come. In the past Kiwanis, teachers and other community partners donated funds or rewards to help the school stock our Exchange with small prizes.
