In the world of 2020 teaching, my Kindergarten classroom, which once had tables, now has desks. These little Kinder babies are in desks a majority of the day. I am in a classroom that does not have any flexible seating available and in a school that does not have the funding to provide it. I am also teaching in person and virtually simultaneously, adding to the time the students who are in person, are spending at their desks. A lot of the play equipment was cleared from my room before I started this year as well so my students do not get to spend a lot of time playing. They also do not get to play at the playground at recess so it is up to us to provide recess equipment for us for our students as well.
I am asking for some flexible seating for my students to help at their desks and for them to utilize at our carpet when we have center time. Kindergarten students are not meant to sit at a desk all day. They need different types of seating.
I am also asking for some organizational furniture and some play and recess equipment. Students this age learn through play and they need a little more of it!
