This shield will add another layer of protection (other than face masks) in order protect my students from the spread of illnesses when they come to the speech room. The speech room is unfortunately quite small and therefore, it is often difficult to socially distance myself from the students at 6 feet. In addition, much of my work involves teaching students how to say certain sounds, which requires me to see their mouths and vice versa. I have face shields for these students, however, I don't feel that this is adequate protection for either of us. In order to do my job safely, I am requesting funding for this floor standing shield, which would provide more protection between my students and I. I work specifically with special needs children and many of them also have pre-existing health conditions that could put them at a greater risk if they contracted COVID. I would love to be able to teach adequately while still making myself and my students feel comfortable and safe. I would greatly appreciate any donations to fund this shield. Thank you!!
