Technology changes and adapts, so should education. I see amazing possibilities for my students with the advancement of virtual reality and how it is being developed to enhance learning. From science and bioengineering to robotics and three-dimensional virtual exploring, virtual reality is the future of education and my students deserve the opportunity to learn the technology. Our school currently has a positive behavior (PBS) room that is granted for students that have shown proper progress through their academics and social experiences. I have seen a great increase in motivation for assessment performance, attendance, and knowledge retention in class and I attribute this to my students' yearning to use the PBS room when they successfully complete their weekly criteria. In VR they have the option to go exploring science through Discovery Education, seeking new technology and robotics in our experimental labs, and creating art in our drawing programs, all from the safety of the classroom. Our issue comes from the fact that we do not have enough technology and incentives to provide students to choose the right path to success. I have to limit exposure to a few minutes for each student a day. I believe if we are able to get Oculus Quest, my students can connect with each other and create new experiences that will impact their learning. I feel that productivity and knowledge gains will be made because students want to have an opportunity to use the Virtual Reality Headsets. We are requesting a few more headsets that my students will not normally be able to afford. This donation would make a huge difference in their lives.
