With students having to learn at home for nearly seven months, many have been missing the social interaction and play that school provides for them. Academics must be a focus as well, but I firmly believe that you have to take care of the child emotionally and socially before academics can be taught exclusively. By providing my students with activity choices in the morning, I hope to bring excitement and positivity to a school year that has and will continue to look different. The plan is that students will come in, select an item from this project to work on and maybe a partner, and safely explore and learn. Through these games and building materials, my goal is for students to continue to develop their creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and work on the engineering design process.
