"This Book is Anti-Racist" will be used to help students interrogate evaluate the dominant culture. Students will apply the activities within the book to our sociology curriculum and to their own lives to see how race, power, and privilege impact their own narratives and understanding of the world. My classroom is diverse; my students are black, brown, and white. They are neurodiverse and neurotypical. Many of them are low-income but some are not. This text is accessible for all of my learners in my classroom, unlike many texts I have encountered. My hope is for my students to use this as a tool to question societal norms and take this knowledge with them outside of the classroom.
