Based on the Mississippi Teacher Resource Guide for developing life skills for students with special needs, the students will demonstrate food preparation as an independent living skill. The students have several performances in which they will obtain: 1. Identify and practice good hygiene during meal preparation and food interactions. 2. Identify foods that need to be washed prior to eating. 3. Identify foods that require refrigeration, and foods that are stored in a pantry or cabinet. 4. Identify the expiration or shelf life of common foods. Remember, happiness is....finding food in the fridge at midnight!
