Having a dedicated iPad while working directly with my students will help speech therapy come alive for them. This tool will allow them to choose motivating activities and research-based speech/language treatment tools to improve their oral communication skills. At the foundational level, my students will engage with apps like "Artic Pix" and "Articulation Station" to acquire specific speech sounds and fine-tune their oral language skills. In a scaffolded manner, students will be challenged to practice their speech skills by using literacy-based apps such as "Pictello" and "Story Builder" to generate their own original stories that incorporate their earlier targets. I've had an iPad in previous years, but this year all the iPads are going to the students, rightly so.
