My students are intelligent, capable readers, who are bored with the usual books assigned to them each year. I want to go outside of the normal comfort zone of books taught in my school and give them something more inspiring. Students need to believe what you are saying in order to buy into it and want to put forth the effort to do the work. Each of these books is a reflection of my students. Some of them need an escape from reality. Some of them are at a crossroad of which direction to take in life. Others are navigating blended families or complicated relationships with family. These are novels my students can directly correlate to their lives, while progressing in the classroom. If my students are able to see themselves in what they are reading, they will be more likely to comprehend and take something away from the novel that will make an impact. I truly need your support to help inspire these young minds and open them up to the world of books. Thank you, kindly.
