Most of our 600 students are learning virtually from home but the excitement of picking up requested library books will surely bring a smile to their faces! Because of the limitations of virtual learning our students have less opportunity to check out, read and return library books. More than one-third of our students come from low-income families and rely heavily on our school library for resources.
I would love to provide a library book drop box at the front of the school for easy access to checking out and returning library books for students who want to read at home. Our current book return is a recycled rolling teacher’s cart with taped signage. This cart requires someone to place it outside near the front door of our school every morning and then bring it inside in the afternoon. The books are exposed to the harsh elements of Northern Virginia’s environment and wildlife, but a weather-resistant drop box would keep the books safe and extend their shelf life. By donating to my project, you will encourage and provide support for our students and their love of reading!
