My wonderful students have been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Between quarantining, online learning and everything in between many of my students have a tough relationship with school. I have asked for a number of items to help make school a happier and more welcoming place for my students. I have asked for a class set of graphic novels. We use novel study in our classroom and having access to a graphic novel, will level the novel study so all my students will be able to participate in discussions. Games are great ways to help kids learn math. I have asked for math games to implement in my classroom. I have also asked for art supplies and paper so my students have more access to art in the classroom. Our school is an art academy and we integrate art into each lesson. We need lots of art supplies to keep this up! I have also asked for headphones. We are lucky to have technology in our room, but keeping headphones stocked and untangled is a constant struggle. Lastly, I asked for fidget bands. School days are long, and many students struggle sitting still. I am hoping these fidget bands can help students stay focused. I am asking for these resources to make school a better place for my students. These resources will give them more opportunities to combat this anxiety, by providing art projects. Headphones will allow them to work independently and quietly and lessen the classroom noise. Games can take the pressure of learning, which also will help my students feel more comfortable!
