I teach speech and debate to 126 students a semester and often see nearly 300 in a year. Most of my students come into my classroom terrified of speaking in front of other people. Right now, I start students giving their speeches in the dark, and slowly move my way up to having them present in front of the classroom. I’m trying to challenge my students to give a lengthy presentation to the city mayor to advocate for their city, but their nerves get the best of them. With a VR set, they could practice their speech in front of a virtual crowd before they move towards a real one!
