Our state now requires thirty minutes of unstructured play per day. Our class does this at the beginning of the day. When students are trickling in the classroom after drop-off and breakfast they choose an activity. Unfortunately, we don’t currently have a lot of choices since this is a new feature of our day. We need more items such as magnetic blocks, Play-Doh, and Hot Wheels tracks. I hope to get some more choices to continue inspiring their creativity! Besides the creativity and teamwork that takes place during this time I believe it motivates children to come to school on time so they can participate in unstructured play. This is a time when students work together. They practice SEL skills. Thank you for any help you can share!
