The items I am requesting are going to help our centers! My students absolutely love our dramatic play center, and it is our most popular each day, but, unfortunately, between COVID and this being my first year in Pre-K, it is mostly food based right now. I would love to use the doctor kit to begin bringing in community members into the center and allow the students to begin asking questions on what exactly those tools are for. Exploration and play is the best way to learn and to grow curiosity. The sensory table is a great tool to help students become comfortable with different textures and to begin to further develop their vocabulary. They will want to touch the items in the table and can describe how they feel. They can use this table to build and sort as well! I absolutely love the couch to help these students and future students into becoming readers. I love to read just as much as my students do, and I never want them to feel discouraged by it. Being comfy and sitting on a couch could bring a memory of home or happiness and will only help their reading. I want to provide them with options in the library to try to keep them there as long as possible because it is so important that they begin finding a love of books and continue that through adulthood.
