Students in my 7th grade ELA classes like to read but do not always have access to high quality books. Our curriculum covers excerpts of a lot of great texts but I want them to have actual books to read as well. Some students will continue to learn from home, even as we enter our second semester. With Refugee by Alan Gratz they will each get a book to read, discuss, analyze, and reread. I can't wait to get these books in their hands. They have had several months of reading on screens and learning digitally. Now is a great time for them to read a hard copy of a book.
