Ensuring that students can participate in a safe online environment and finding new ways to make the digital experience more personal are two of my top priorities.
We are now four weeks into adapting to distance learning at my school. Overall, it has been a positive experience and the students have been so patient and eager to learn. The biggest challenge of virtual school is ensuring that the tech is up to date; it will help make my live sessions with my students run much more smoothly if I have some more devices. Access to another device for me to use at home when conducting live sessions as well as simultaneous google meets will make teaching much easier for me and my students.
I have a personal computer that I can use at home, but a second device will help with classroom management because I can monitor from one device and present from another. In addition, I will be able to create breakout groups for my students. Monitoring them from two devices will be much more feasible than with one. Furthermore, I also have to conduct virtual office hours and well checks with students. Having two devices will allow me to have two google meet sessions at the same time. Finally, up to date tech that runs smoothly and efficiently helps with my live sessions from crashing or lag time while presenting a lesson.
