Learning targets for our Fifth-grade have always been democracy, biomes. Twenty-twenty has woven these two topics into the fabric of our daily news. We have lost two freedom fighters, John Lewis and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who served their lives fighting for the ideals of our country. The Amazon, Australia and the West Coast have all been victims of wildfires caused by global warming. Survival in these areas relies on the greater public caring and realizing that they have an impact on the world. Our students need to learn that their world is connected to more than their county. Some topics are difficult for young children to face. We have chosen a mix of books, some use humor, some are biographies, some have taken place in the past, to be able to bridge the gap between facing the issues and becoming too scared to learn. Thank you for helping us make a difference.
