Think back to a time where you were sitting in History class. Your teacher got all excited about something, but you were worrying about the things teens worry about, so you couldn’t understand why the teacher was all hyped up about the brilliant island hopping campaign of World War II. Teachers today struggle with the same disinterested and stubborn students, but now we also have to compete with insta, snap, candy crush, and Netflix on a student’s device that that seems to have some sort of miraculous magnetism to their hands. We love our students, even the disinterested and stubborn, so we are doing everything we can to change the current classroom culture. Today’s technology engages students in an entirely different way. It is addictive, but it also provides outlets for creativity and problem solving. One of the burgeoning methods to get students back is through the use of 3D printing, CNC cutting, and laser engraving. With your assistance and generosity, I will be able to host the most engaging, interactive, and exciting Social Studies class these students have ever experienced, through modern tech. I’m not the only one saying it. There have been many studies and articles investigating the use of these tools, and all have reported positive results in deploying this tech. The research is there, my desire to bring kinesthetic learning to Social Studies is there, and whether they know it or not, my students’ excitement for history is just waiting to jump out and have a big party. That is why I am humbly asking for your assistance in funding the Snapmaker 2.0 A350, the Snapmaker Enclosure, and lots of awesome accessories and filaments.
