The items in this project will support new literacy centers, silent reading, high level text for our science expedition and play centers with a language focus. As first grade emerging readers who completed kindergarten virtually, my literacy priorities this year during a pandemic are 1)To instill a love for reading 2)Support students with learning gaps we typically don't see at this scale. I am excited to have the tools to help my students relearn letter formations, have engaging phonics centers to practice blending syllables and have diverse read-alouds that represent their experiences. Lastly, I want to provide opportunities for students to engage in literacy through play (storytelling, puppets, letter beads, magnetic tile letters etc).
