These highly programmable robots will give students the ability to apply their block coding skills. Small groups will work together to design, code, and run the programs. Any coding bugs will show up in the robot behavior. With multiple types of sensory inputs, the robots will allow students to code more complex behaviors as they learn, bringing more creativity into their projects. Students will run their programs both inside and outside the classroom with these all-terrain robots, piquing the curiosity of other students to get them interested in the subject. I hope that more under-represented students including minorities and females will want to take the coding class as a result. This will add another dimension to my teaching as students have a 3-D, real world physical manifestation of what their coded programs do.
