Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning. Flexible seating allows students to have that voice regarding their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times and center time, they choose a location in the classroom that works best for them. Currently my students have limited comfortable options for flexible seating. After last years covid restrictions, I would like to be able to offer my students a cozier classroom to walk into. Making sure students are comfortable and have a choice is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
