My classroom is a kindergarten/first grade combination class in a TItle 1 school. Title 1 funds aim to bridge the gap between low-income students and other students. The U.S. Department of Education provides supplemental funding to local school districts to meet the needs of at-risk and low income students. My class is made up of 10 kindergrtners and 16 first graders. 17 out of 26 students are learning english and another language at home. The majority of my students also receive free/reduced breakfast and lunch. My students love to read and love learning to read! They are excited to be at school and have a love of learning. They are sweet, caring children who deserve the same opportunities as all other children.
