Scholastic News is a great resource that can be used in the classroom, mixing reading with social studies as well as science, and extends to home because students will be able to take them home and hopefully read to their parents and siblings! I’ll be able to use Scholastic News as a great supplement for social studies. Using Scholastic News will help me connect language arts with social studies, and will also incorporate science at times... which will be a cross-curricular connection with their math and science teacher! I also feel very strongly that students should know and be familiar with current events. Knowing what’s going on in the world today will only further their knowledge! I can also use Teacher Pay Teachers gift cards to purchase new content that will be relevant to my language arts and social studies lessons. These resources are sometimes digital as well, which will make distance learning easier should we have to do that!
